Benefits of ingredients:
Honey is rich in nutrients and antioxidants, has antibacterial properties, and can play a role in diabetes management as part of a balanced diet.” (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/benefits-of-honey)
“Lemons contain nutrients that may help support your cardiovascular health and protect against kidney stones and anemia, among other benefits. Lemons are high in vitamin C, fiber, and various beneficial plant compounds. These nutrients are responsible for several health benefits. In fact, lemons may support heart health, weight control, and digestive health.” https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/6-lemon-health-benefits
“Limes contain antioxidants, which have been shown to help reduce inflammation and even help prevent certain chronic illnesses… The high levels of Vitamin C found in limes can help protect you from infection and speed up your body’s healing process… Citrus fruits have been shown to help keep kidney stones at bay. The citric acid in lemons, limes, and other citrus fruits makes it more difficult for kidney stones to form…Studies have shown that the flavonoids found in citrus fruit, including limes, may help protect against stroke, especially in women…Bone and tooth development can also benefit from the Vitamin C found in limes…Vitamin C is vital to your immune health. Greek yogurt has less whey than regular yogurt, and therefore “has even more protein than regular yogurt.” It is also rich in probiotics and high in vitamin B12. (https://www.realsimple.com/greek-yogurt-health-benefits-7182253). Plain Greek yogurt is lower in sugar and therefore much better for you - be sure to read your labels when purchasing. (My preferred brands are Fage and Chobani.)
Recipe
Recipe makes 2 servings.
- 1 Tbs Lime juice
- 2 Tbs Lemon juice
- 1 Tbs Honey
- 3/4 Cup Greek Yogurt
You have 2 choices here:
EASY: Mix it all together and stir until smooth, or…
The Two-Step Method: Whip the honey, lime, and lemon juice together with a fork first, then add the yogurt.
Either way, you’ll love it! Keep in mind that the tartness of the fruit will effect the result. If you are so lucky as to have key limes and Myer lemons on hand, this gets even better! For extra freshness, juice the fruit yourself, but you can also use the juice you find in the store. This is a no-stress recipe!
Enjoy!
