Someday, a poem of hope and tears

Someday

When I wake, this I say,

“Let me live my life today.”

When I lay down, this I cry,

“Let me live before I die.”

Now I wake to the sun’s rays.

I’d like to spend the hours at play.

But money urges me to my desk.

I won’t be getting any play or rest.

Someday I’ll leave this job behind.

I’ll find a way for me to shine.

Until then, I’ll try to seem okay,

And hide the tears until “someday.”
