Stand Strong, a poem

Stand Strong

I have a thought to call myself a princess
Of a kingdom long since gone to rest.

I have a thought to take to sleep and wander
Through dreams of flowered fields and oceans vast.

I have a thought to take these in a bottle
And drink them down without a bit of bread.

But thoughts of feasting cannot sate my hunger
And dreams will never satisfy my head.

I have a thought to make my future brighter,
Leaving behind scars of failures past.

I have a thought to make my wishes simpler,
That I might accomplish them at last.

I have a thought so frightening that I’d cower
If I weren’t the woman that I am.

I'll walk right out and stand strong in the current.
I'll shape my life with my own two hands.
